Tell me something I don’t know about Canada School of Public Service
Rolling up under Treasury Board, the Canada School of Public Service is the main educational institution for the Government of Canada, leading the government’s learning by providing a common, standardised curriculum that supports public servants through key career transitions.
It teaches more than just knowledge and skills, with a mandate to encourage pride and excellence in the public service along with a common sense of the purposes, values and traditions of the public service to support the growth and development of public servants.
The curriculum is uniquely specific and delivers training on skills and mindsets that are applicable in any modern organisation.
They’re also our only partner that has its own coat of arms:
What is GoFLUENT?
As part of our Percipio Training bundle that includes Skillsoft 2.0 for all your growth skills, we also get to offer goFLUENT for on-demand training in 14 languages including our two official ones.
It’s a well thought-out platform; figuring people are often learning a language for professional use, GoFLUENT lets you match the training vocabulary to the type of work you do.
It starts off with a proficiency test that, while optional, just means you’re not learning to conjugate irregular verbs before you know the basics. Their Discovery, Learning, Practice formula makes for an easy to use and easy to understand set of lessons.
GoFLUENT uses the European Common Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This means that it uses European French, with words like ‘pull’ instead of ‘chandail en coton ouaté’ for a sweatshirt. But, though it’s not exactly geared to the Government of Canada’s language rating system, it will still help you raise your second official language qualifications and proficiency levels.
We’ve got this document for you if you’d like a more detailed comparison.
GoFLUENT is available for free through Navigar for all members of the IT Group.
And about Pluralsight

Training
What if the course I want to take isn’t listed?
Our training partners have some pretty extensive and relevant catalogues with thousands of courses, but even they’ll admit that they might have a gap here or there.
If a course that you’re interested in isn’t available, let us know. We’ll track requests to see if there’s enough demand to ask one of the training partners to add it to their catalogue.
What if I already have completed a course or some other training from one of Navigar’s training partners?
Navigar is your personal learning platform so we’ve included a way for you to add courses, books, videos or any other training that you’ve already completed to your profile. If it’s one of the courses that Navigar is recommending for you, you can select it and mark it as Completed.
If it’s not on your list of recommended courses, you can still add it to your Training History.
From My Profile, select My Training History from the dropdown menu and then Add Training Record. Just enter the details of the training in the pop-up window and Navigar will add this item to your list of completed courses.

I completed a course with one of Navigar’s training providers but it’s still showing as in progress in my profile.
As smart as Navigar is, we haven’t built that kind of connection to our learning providers – yet – so we’ve got to ask you to do this manually.
Select ‘My Training Plan’ from the top menu and navigate to the course that you want to update. Select ‘Completed’ from the dropdown window and your changes are automatically saved. You’ll see your updated progress when you return to the My Training Plan page.
Can I take a course that isn’t recommended for me?
To see all of the courses available, select Browse Training from the top navigation and scroll down to the All Training section. You’ll see information on each course’s level, duration and provider. You can also use the search function or filters to refine the list.
Select View Details for a course that you’re interested in and you can either add it to your Learning Plan or go to the provider’s website to start the course right away.
It’s unlikely, but if you find a course that isn’t covered by your Navigar license, let us know and we’ll see what we can do to help.
How do I access the training courses?
If you haven’t already, you can create an account to login. Once you’re logged in, Navigar and the provider’s website will communicate to take you straight to the course page where you can immediately begin your training.
How are my courses tracked?
When you register for a course in Navigar, that course is added to your learning profile.
The only thing we can’t tell is when you’ve completed your course. We just haven’t built that connection with our learning providers – yet – so we’ve got to ask you to do this manually.
Select ‘My Training Plan’ from the top menu and navigate to the course that you want to update. Select ‘Completed’ from the dropdown window and your changes are automatically saved. You’ll see your updated progress when you return to the My Training Plan page.
Why did I get a notice that my course is expiring?
Our learning partners always want to keep their content fresh and up-to-date so sometimes they’ll remove a training course.
There are several reasons for this; they periodically update existing courses to accommodate updates in the subject matter or to fix errors, etc. Occasionally they retire courses that are outdated, cover topics that are no longer relevant, or are being replaced by a newer course that covers that same topic.
In any case, you’ll see an on screen notification when you launch content that is retiring soon. Percipio will give you 90 days notice so that you have time to complete the training if you wish.
The notification includes the date the content will be retired and a link to a new version of the content if available. After content is retired, you can no longer access it but the record of your activity with that content will still appear on your Learning Activity page.
If you’ve completed the training, remember to manually update your Training Plan so that it’s captured in Navigar as well.
